father's day in costa mesa

Spending Dad’s day in Costa Mesa this year? There’s no better spot! We’ve rounded up some of our best suggestions for things to do and Father’s Day restaurants in Costa Mesa below.

Costa Mesa Country Club

Got a golfer? The Costa Mesa Country Club includes two municipal courses, Mesa Linda and Los Lagos. Both offer just the right amount of difficulty – Los Lagos with gentle rolling fairways and generous greens and Mesa Linda with doglegs and smaller sloping greens. Costa Mesa Country Club also offers a driving range and chipping and putting greens. Call 714.540.7500 to book your tee time.

Gunwhale Ales or Barley Forge…or Both

For the laid back dads, try an afternoon of beer tasting at Barley Forge and Gunwhale Ales. They’re located just doors down from one another, so you’re welcome to stick with one or try them both! Gunwhale Ales’ approach to brewing combines the taste of hop-forward California brews with the traditional farmhouse style. Barley Forge – Costa Mesa’s first brewery – brews Belgian, West Coast and German style beers. When it’s time to eat, Gunwhale Ales has a rotating schedule of food trucks and Barley Forge offers a full kitchen and grill menu.

Ecco Pizzeria Pig & Swig

You read that right. Ecco Pizzeria in Costa Mesa is celebrating its third annual Father’s Day event, the Pig & Swig! You’re invited to enjoy a few of the chef’s delicious pork specials and some exceptional whiskey cocktails. If pork isn’t your thing, the full menu is available as well. Reservations are highly encouraged. Call 714.444.3226.

SOCIAL Costa Mesa

Make a dinner reservation at SOCIAL on Costa Mesa’s Westside for Wagyu tri tip, the unbelievable “Drive Thru” burger, smoked bone marrow, Spanish octopus, wood fired branzino or even half a pig’s head served carnitas style. SOCIAL is a great Father’s Day restaurant for adventurous dads. Call 949.642.2425.

The Country Club

Maybe after your trip to the actual country club, you’ll want to stop by The Country Club on Costa Mesa’s 17th Street. The restaurant, less than a year old, brings an elevated approach to classic American dishes and craft cocktails. For dinner, try the 42 oz. ribeye tomahawk or the white sea bass with citrus glaze before diving into a house-made donut and coffee dessert. Call 949.281.2582.

Mastro’s Steakhouse

Perhaps the most classic Father’s Day restaurant in Costa Mesa. Mastro’s is the ultimate steakhouse offering some of the finest hand-cut prime steaks and fresh seafood. The restaurant also regularly hosts live music to match its distinctively sophisticated ambiance. Call 714.546.7405 for reservations.

Water Grill

If you’ve got a seafood lover on your hands, try Water Grill near South Coast Plaza. The restaurant exudes nautical charm with its locally sourced wood and rustic iron finishes. The restaurant’s menu changes daily based on the fresh seafood available that day, but their house special crudos and iced shellfish platters are not to be missed! Call 949.208.7060 for reservations.

The Capital Grille

Another classic dining option for Father’s Day in Costa Mesa. The Capital Grille is the perfect place if Dad is craving surf and turf, filet mignon, Gorgonzola crusted NY strip or veal tomahawk chop. But there’s plenty more to be found on the menu. We’d recommend the fresh Maine lobster or sea scallops, and you can never go wrong with lobster mac ‘n’ cheese to share! Call 714.432.1140 for reservations.

OC Night Market

It may not technically be a Father’s Day restaurant, but the OC Night Market shouldn’t be missed if he’s a daring type. The market brings hundreds of vendors together for a celebration of a distinctive variety of food. The annual event is inspired by Asian night markets, and draws hundreds to the OC Fair & Event Center. Admission is $5 per person and rest assured you’ll find plenty of dining options for the whole brood!
