Live Music Venues in Costa Mesa

Live Music Venues in Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa is well known for being a cultural hub in Orange County. With museums, theaters, art walks, and more, you can always have a new way to tantalize your aesthetic side. When it comes to live music, Costa Mesa holds its own, offering venues that range from small hidden bars to a massive amphitheater that seats thousands. Below, we put together a curated list of a few of our favorite live music venues in Costa Mesa.

Collaborations Happen

The Wayfarer

TThe Wayfarer is a bar proud of offering its guests delicious food, great live music, and other fun events. The concert venue hosts musicians in a variety of genres, including local groups and special guests, as well as larger bands for an exciting night out.

The Wayfarer is loved not only for their live music events, however. They also host jolly karaoke nights, free trivia, and even Paint and Sip nights! They keep their calendar updated regularly, and tickets to some events may require purchasing ahead of time.

The food is also delectable, and you can enjoy it indoors or on the patio. The menu includes burgers, tacos, salads, and group eat options, along with daily specials, such as Monday Wing Nights offering 10 different wing flavors, Taco Tuesdays, Pasta Bowl Sundays, and Rib Wednesdays.

The Harp Inn

The Harp Inn is an atmospheric Irish pub dripping with authenticity in downtown Costa Mesa. It has been in business for more than 30 years and is known for its weekly live music happenings. There is always a choice for almost every musical taste, as the invi ted musicians play in many different genres like punk, alternative rock, country, blues, classic rock, new wave, and some that weave between genre types. Apart from music events, The Harp Inn entertains guests with comedy nights, bar trivia, and daily sports broadcasts.

The menu is ample and delicious with the choice of burgers, salads, sandwiches, snacks, daily specials, and even traditional Irish breakfast victuals. The bar menu includes draft and bottled beers, house and premium wines, and specialty cocktails. Sticking to their Irish roots, their beers are served in pints…imperial pints, which means they are 20 oz instead of 16.

Collaborations Happen

Ruin Bar

Ruin Bar is the smallest venue on the list, but don’t let it fly under your radar. It is a little dreamy and quirky speakeasy hiding in the territory of the creative space LAB Anti-Mall. There is talk of it being the coolest, coziest, and weirdest bar in Orange County.

The bar hosts a DJ on Fridays and Saturdays and features live music events on Thursdays. The design of the place is full of unique, vintage, and unexpected elements, even including a ski lift booth and bizarre statues. Apart from indoor seating, which is suited best for couples or trios of people, there is a cozy patio with trees and lights for bigger companies or for mingling. The place doesn’t serve food, but the list of crafted cocktails, prepared by skilled bartenders, is enough to make up for its absence. Their vivid cocktails fill the night with color and bright flavors to accompany the sounds of their musical guests.

Located in Costa Mesa’s cultural hub of The CAMP, Mesa is a chic lounge-style venue that serves up curated in-house cocktails and live DJ music daily. On busier nights, it is worth calling ahead for reservations to avoid the wait and go right in for an upscale experience that delights each of the senses. Dress code is business casual, so be sure to come dressed for the occasion.
