Event Description

Segerstrom Center for the Arts invites you to get your groove on at our seventh annual National Dance Day on the Argyros Plaza! Whether you’re a fan of hip hop or ballet folklórico, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, learn, and experience at this exciting celebration. Join us for high-energy stage performances from local dance groups, who might just inspire you to take a turn on the floor! The afternoon will also feature inclusive, interactive workshops in a variety of styles led by expert instructors. National Dance Day is designed for all ages and abilities--no dance experience is required for this fun afternoon filled with free entertainment and activities!

1:00 - 1:30      Warmup and movement workshop with Studio D 
1:30-1:45      Danza Azteca Xochipilli Aztec dance performance
1:45-2:15      Spanish-friendly bachata workshop with Queerchata
2:15-2:30      Straight Up Abilities performance
2:30-3:00      Hip hop workshop with Sakina Ibrahim
3:00-3:15      American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School performance
3:15-3:45      Broadway workshop with Lauren Lim Jackson
3:45-4:00      Alianza Translatinx ballet folklórico performance
4:00-4:15      Adaa Dance Bollywood performance

Admission to National Dance Day is free with Plaza Pass! Before you arrive, sign up for free and download this digital pass to your mobile wallet for access to this event along with thrilling live entertainment, exciting cultural experiences, and free community programming on the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza.


Seating Info & Safety Precautions:
Attendees should plan to bring their own folding chairs as these will not be provided by the Center. Food and refreshments will be available to purchase courtesy of George’s Café. Attendees are welcome to bring their own food and refreshments, however outside alcohol, glass containers, tables, barbecues, and food preparation will not be permitted on the Plaza.
