People around the world are abuzz about the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton this week, and the timing just couldn’t be more perfect to celebrate “Brit Week” in Costa Mesa. BritWeek, the annual celebration of all things British in California, begins its Orange County events with a Royal Reception in South Coast Plaza’s Jewel Court on Saturday, April 30 at 5pm. This event requires an RSVP by April 26, but there is no charge to attend. The next day’s event will roll into South Coast Plaza Sunday, May 1 from 1-4 PM with a display of iconic British cars and rousing musical entertainment courtesy of a 35-piece British band, along with scrumptious food, valuable prizes and more. There is also no charge to attend this event.
To continue the week’s celebration, the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction Company is staging a British Classic Car Show in conjunction with the British American Business Council.
Approximately 100 famed British automobile makes will be on display, including the likes of Austin Healey, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, Triumph, Morgan and Jensen Healey, plus classic Minis and other vintage cars – a display of Europe’s finest cars in SoCal style. Trophies will be awarded for the top automobiles, and attendees will earn the chance to win giveaways and tickets to the 2nd Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in June in Orange County.
The Classic Car Show will take place in South Coast Plaza’s parking lot near Bear Street and the 405 Freeway. Complimentary food will be provided by The Capital Grille and Häagen-Dazs.
Barrett-Jackson is getting the word out about their upcoming auction at Brit Week. The only southern California edition of the famed Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions™ will return to Orange County, June 24-26, 2011, at the OC Fair & Event Center. Last year’s Barrett-Jackson California event drew more than 58,000 visitors and sold 395 cars for a total of more than $15 million when it debuted at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. Barrett-Jackson also helped raise more than $1 million for charity.
