The Los Angeles Chargers training camp begins in Costa Mesa on July 28th with family-friendly games, programming and, of course, good old fashioned football. The camp is held at Costa Mesa’s Jack Hammett Sports Complex near the OC Fair & Event Center.

In addition to watching players like Philip Rivers, Joey Bosa and Keenan Allen, guests can enjoy interactive activities in the Activation Zone and get up close and personal with their favorite players as they head out on to the field for practice in the Hi-Five Zone.

There will be plenty of photo opportunities, face painting, a 40-yard dash competition and football drills for the whole family to participate in!

The first practices will be held on July 28th and 29th, with 12 additional practices scheduled through August 23rd. See the full training camp schedule here.

What To Do While You’re Here

For football families, it’s easy to turn a visit to the Chargers training camp into a weekend getaway with the family.

Thanks to the sports complex’s proximity, parking for the Los Angeles Chargers training camp is also valid all day for fans to attend the OC Fair (find free and budget-friendly things to do at the OC Fair here). The parking lot opens at 8 a.m., with practice beginning at 10 a.m.

If you want to stay close to the action, book your stay at the Best Western Plus, Holiday Inn Express & Suites or OC Hotel. For those looking for a little more space, the Residence Inn by Marriott offers rooms with fully equipped kitchens.

Beyond the Los Angeles Chargers training camp days, there’s plenty to explore in Costa Mesa and Orange County! Visit Costa Mesa’s unique shopping and dining destinations like SOCO and The OC Mix, The LAB Anti-Mall and The CAMP. All three offer dining for the entire family at restaurants such as Taco Asylum, Ecco Pizzeria, Tackle Box, Gypsy Den Café and L.A. Brisket.

If you’re looking for something closer to the training camp, try Bravo “Top Chef” Richard Blais’ Crack Shack or Mendocino Farms Sandwich Market, both of which are on Costa Mesa’s hip 17th Street corridor.
