We can’t believe it’s already the end of October! Time for cooler weather, pumpkin-flavored everything, and of course Halloween. We picked a few local Halloween goings-on to share with you.
A favorite event for locals is the Annual Trick-or-Treat Festival at the OC Marketplace. The Orange County Marketplace is at the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa most weekends of the year. This year on October 26, Costa Mesa celebrates the Festival’s 17th year with the theme “It’s a Monster Mash!” Children under the age of 12 and in costume trick or treat free from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with vendors offering free candy and toys. The first 500 kids in the door will get a bag of goodies from the OC Marketplace, including popcorn, tickets to local attractions and other surprises.There will be free face painting from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the “Hilarious Halloween Haunt” puppet show presented by Franklin Haynes Marionettes at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Don’t forget the parade of Halloween Hearses that will start at 10:30 a.m.! Admission to the OC Marketplace is $2, with children 11 and younger getting in for free. Parking is free.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts presents “A Sherlock Holmes Halloween” at the Reneé and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall on October 25 at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Perfect for those over 13 years of age, this interactive show has guests help Sherlock Holmes solve the Mystery of the Haunted Violin.
On Friday, October 31, the Avenue of the Arts, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel is having a Lemondrop Singles Halloween Party. Starting at 7 p.m., it will feature vocalist Vikki Gurdas, DJ John and a Michael Jackson impersonator at 9 p.m., plus a dance floor for 300. The Costa Mesa 55 Tavern + Bowl offers the “Tavern of Terror” on Friday, October 31 starting at 9 p.m. Choose an option of 2 hours of open bar, or general admission, or go big and get VIP bottle service. Featuring DJs Razor N Blade, DJ Mozo and DJ Barbosa. Costumes are optional, but recommended. Purchase tickets here.
