Segerstrom Center for the Arts is the focal point for all performing arts in Orange County. From Broadway shows to dance, jazz, opera, cabaret and child oriented performances, SCFTA is a world-class venue to experience the power of live theater productions.
The 2013-2014 season was recently announced and, as always, SCFTA will be home to the very best in performing arts featuring several award-winning productions. The Broadway series features Evita, The Wizard of Oz, Jersey Boys, Ghost the Musical, ONCE and the highly regarded, gut-busting comedy The Book of Mormon.
The Curtain Call series also features some popular Broadway productions like Chicago, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and a performance of I Love Lucy On Stage. A couple of special performances, like Mamma Mia! and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, have also been added.
The International Dance Series includes performances from Diana Vishneva, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and Natalia Ospiova & Ivan Vasiliev.
Pacifica Quartet with Marc-André Hamelin, Jeffrey Kahane, Joseph Swensen & Carter Brey, Emerson String Quartet, St. Lawrence String Quartet and the Philharmonia Baroque Chamber Players perform for the SCFTA Concert Series.
The Center is dedicated to bringing family and child oriented performances to create a life-long love of theatre. Many of these performances are on Saturday mornings and include pre-show activities that engage kids. The Family Series will include The Okee Dokee Brothers, Still Awake Still!, Cre8ion’s Fluff, Bristol Riverside Theatre’s the Little Prince, Lightwire Theater’s the Ugly Duckling & The Tortoise and the Hare, Perth Theatre Company’s The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer and The Intergalactic Nemesis – Book Two: Robot Planet Rising.
Other performances include the Cabaret Series with performances by Bernadette Peters, Marilyn Maye & Clint Holmes, Peter Gallagher, Patti LuPone, Jimmy Webb and Maureen McGovern. The Jazz Series showcases talented musicians like Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club, ACS: Geri Allen, Terri Lyne Carrington & Esperanza Spalding, Dr. Lonnie Smith, McCoy Tyner & Joe Lovano, Wynton Marsalis and Fred Hersch Trio. The LA Opera in Concert will perform classics Falstaff and Thais during the Opera Series.
