The seasons may technically be changing, but fortunately for you Southern California’s sunshine and relaxation aren’t going anywhere. Now is the perfect time to take advantage of everything that Orange County has to offer. To get you started, here’s a look at seven great things to do this fall in Costa Mesa.
EAT
As Southern California’s ultimate eatcation destination, it’s only fitting to explore what seasonal creations Costa Mesa chefs have to offer. One of the best ways is through The TASTE – Costa Mesa, a three-day culinary block party offering tastes from Costa Mesa and broader Orange County restaurants October 19th through 21st.
If you can’t make The TASTE, you can easily plan your own eatcation anytime using Foodbeast’s guide to some of the best food in Costa Mesa. Make sure to check out our recommendations on some of the best spots for brunch, too, because you know…who doesn’t love brunch?
OC Japan Fair
Get a taste of Japan at the OC Fair & Event Center this month! OC Japan Fair returns to Costa Mesa October 19th through 21st. As one of the largest Japanese cultural festivals in Southern California, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the cuisine, culture and fashion!
Catch a Broadway Show
Take in one of Broadway’s hottest shows at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Inspired by the popular film, “Waitress” follows waitress and expert pie maker Jenna as she tries to make her way out of her small town and loveless marriage. The musical includes original music by Grammy® nominee Sara Bareilles and has been heralded as “an empowering musical of the highest order” by The Chicago Tribune and a “fresh, emotionally satisfying tale of self-liberation” by Time Out New York.
Find Family-Friendly Theater
Take in some family-friendly theater! Both Segerstrom Center for the Arts and its neighbor South Coast Repertory offer shows for all ages. This fall, choose from “Shadow Play”, an interactive and imaginative exploration of what exactly happens to our shadows when we go to sleep, at Segerstrom Center for the Arts (November 17-18), or watch the world’s greatest kid detective at work in “Nate the Great” at South Coast Repertory (November 1-18).
Centennial Farm
This three-acre working farm is the perfect stop for families. At Centennial Farm at the OC Fair & Event Center, you’ll meet the newest bunch of piglets or goats, explore an inspiring vegetable and fruit garden and learn about any other farm animal you could imagine. The farm also regularly hosts gardening and craft classes open to the public!
Celebrate the Holidays at Disneyland
Costa Mesa is lucky to be just minutes away from the happiest place on Earth! Take in Halloween Time, the Festival of Holidays and the brand new Pixar Pier at Disneyland® Resort now through December using the convenient ART shuttle from Costa Mesa hotels! Skip the hassle of paying for parking and get dropped off and picked up directly at the entrance with a cost-effective and stress-free ride.
Beer Crawl
This fall, Costa Mesa welcomes its third brewery and tasting room in the city’s SoBeCa District, Bootleggers Brewery! With two other tasting rooms within walking distance – Barley Forge Brewing Co. and Gunwhale Ales (both winners in Denver’s annual Great American Beer Festival) – Costa Mesa is the perfect place for a tour of some of SoCal’s best brews.
