girls getaway weekend in costa mesa

Sometimes the best weekend getaway is one with the girls. In honor of National Girlfriends Day and the celebration of friendship, we’ve put together your ideal itinerary to start planning your very own girls getaway weekend in Costa Mesa. If you’re ready for a break with your BFFs, check out our recommendations on what to do and where to eat in the City of the Arts®!

Start the Day Off Right

The start to any special occasion (or just the weekend) would not be complete without a visit to Foodbeast approved Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee on Costa Mesa’s Eastside for a breakfast bite. Choose from donut flavors like Oregon huckleberry, maple bacon, butter & salt and a host of rotating monthly flavors (including gluten free).

Shopping at Costa Cabana

Now that you’re fueled up, it’s time to get some shopping on at Costa Cabana. Located just down the street from Sidecar, the boutique offers on-trend coastal styles, jewelry, beauty and gifts in a converted California bungalow.

Along 17th St., you’ll also find No Rest for Bridget and its sister store, OPT, with the latest affordable trends.

Relax in Style

If a spa day is in the books, try heading to the Nordstrom Spa for everything from facial treatments and body wraps to mani-pedis and massages. You’ll find this hidden gem tucked away on the fourth floor of South Coast Plaza’s Nordstrom. Make your appointments here.

Did Someone Say Tapas?

After your spa break – and maybe a little shopping at South Coast Plaza – head to SOCO and The OC Mix for tapas at Spanish-inspired Pueblo. The restaurant dishes up vibrant bites like grilled Spanish octopus, melon-berry gazpacho, chicken drumlets with pickled radish and mojo sauce, and delicious paellas. Match your meal with wines by the glass or refreshing cocktails, or venture over to We Olive after your meal for wine and olive oil tasting.

Get Crafty

Costa Mesa Ceramics studio offers a plethora of fun classes for any level of expertise (or non-expertise), but you’re also able to reserve a private wine & ceramics night with your best gal pals. The relaxed classes are roughly 2 hours long and offer a fun crash course in hand building to create projects like mugs and planters or wheel throwing…and, of course, you’ll enjoy some vino while you work! Learn more here.

Nightlife

Costa Mesa is home to several great nightlife spots, including Orange County’s premier dance club, Time. For a casual chic vibe, head to Mesa Lounge, which offers creative cocktails, small bites and great ambiance. If you’re looking for a show, try Keys on Main at The Triangle for a night of dueling piano entertainment.

Plan to make it a full girls weekend getaway – book your hotel stay at Costa Mesa’s hip Avenue of the Arts hotel or the luxurious Westin South Coast Plaza! Both are near great dining, shopping and the breathtaking Segerstrom Center for the Arts campus (where you can catch a Broadway show like “On Your Feet!” or free music programming on the Argyros Plaza).
