Segerstrom Center for the Arts will be transformed into the Desilu Playhouse for the I Love Lucy® Live On Stage show March 18-23 as guests are taken back to 1952 as two of the most hilarious Lucy episodes are performed live on stage.  Guests can see what it was like to sit in the studio audience during the filming of the original program.

Fans of the beloved television program will love seeing “The Benefit” and “Lucy Has Her Eyes Examined” again, but for the first time live.  At the time of its production, I Love Lucy®  was one of the most technically advanced shows, including its implementation of the multi-camera shooting technique, which is still used by many sitcoms today.  The weekly, 30-minute scripted show was such a hit, it made Lucille Ball one of the most recognized and iconic performers in television history.  It has even been called the greatest TV comedy of all time by People Magazine.

The fun starts long before the curtain is drawn with pre-show activities.  Patrons attending the show are encouraged to arrive early to take photos at the specially made set that comes complete with props. As voted on by SCFTA’s social media followers, the set will allow patrons to recreate the Vitameatavegamin skit from the hilarious episode “Lucy Does a TV Commercial” that first aired on May 5, 1952.
