Posted on February 5, 2013 | 12:04pm | Travel Costa Mesa

February is going to be an exciting month at South Coast Plaza with Lunar New Year events, specials and giveaways.  The Year of the Snake will kick-off on February 5, with a towering snake exhibit and floral arrangement.  The exhibit will be on display in Jewel Court until February 17.

Between February 7 and 17, shoppers have a chance to win prizes and a South Coast Plaza shopping spree.  There will be an enter-to-win promotion at the four concierge desks with special red envelopes concealing prizes.  Thousands of envelopes will be distributed, but only 50 contain a prize.

Many boutiques are celebrating the Year of the Snake by offering limited-time-only items while others are offering complimentary gifts or refreshments with a purchase.  Among participating restaurants and retailers are AnQi by Crustacean, Dior, Fendi, Tiffany & Co. and many more.  AnQi is also hosting a celebratory Lunar New Year party on February 10 with a theatrical fashion show, dragon dance and special “Heaven & Earth” five-course menu.  MAC will feature a special Year of the Snake makeup collection with the South Coast Plaza location the only place in North America to get the special edition.

With over 250 retailers and dozens of Orange County’s best restaurants, South Coast Plaza is a world-class shopping destination that draws visitors from all over.  Hailed as an “international shopping destination,” South Coast Plaza has seen an influx of foreign visitors, particularly from Asia.

Along with all of the Lunar New Year activities, there will also be seven new stores openings in February.  The new retailers are Lanvin, Berluti, Brioni, L’Occitane en Provence, Sephora, Boss by Hugo Boss and Hugo by Hugo Boss.
