The LAB and The CAMP
THE LAB and The CAMP, across the street from each other on South Bristol in Costa Mesa, invite you to experience the “SoBeCa District”, an acronym for South On Bristol Entertainment, Culture and Arts.
The SoBeCa District is the only progressive, lifestyle-culture,
specialty retail shopping destination of its kind in Orange County
reaching out to the community and surrounding neighborhood bringing
together subcultures with common shared interests in fashion, arts and
the outdoors.
The CAMP excels as an innovative retail community designed to offer outdoor and action-sports enthusiasts authentic retailers and suppliers in a natural and complimentary compound. This nontraditional shopping center balances culture, sophistication and functionality. Blurring the boundaries between the outdoors and everyday life, The CAMP hosts educational events, lifestyle-related art shows and exhibits, as well as seasonal, special events.
Enjoy a variety
of culinary delights, from the flavor-conscious vegan eatery Native Foods, to raw and vegetarian options at 118 Degrees, sophistcated cocktails and cuisine at mesa, and Old Vine Café, an artisan wine and cheese shop and restaurant.
Nurture your sporty side at one of the many shops: Active Ride Shop serves your surf, skate and snow-sport needs, while Cycle Werks is your full-service cycling spot. Heat up your exercise routine at Bikram Yoga and pick up authentic outdoor clothing with a conscience at Patagonia inside the SEED People's Market, an artisan collective of products with a purpose that also features the Idea Farm, a craft-class annex on the second floor.
Check out Bundles & Bumps which offers chic and organic clothing from maternity to toddler. While you shop, you can pick up coffee, tea and organic treats and sweets at Milk+Honey.
The CAMP also features services such as Retreat Salon, a high-quality hair salon, as well as an organic tattoo and piercing shop, Outer Limits.
The LAB, an acronym for "Little American Business", is
OC’s renowned, urban-youth “anti-mall”; a unique retail complex
catering to the lifestyle demands of the trend-setting shopper. The structure is made up of the remnants of an abandoned goggle factory that have been redeveloped and transformed, therefore creating a "recycled" center. The central "living room" indoor-outdoor courtyard invites customers to hang out with couches, a community table with Standard Issue magazine stand, and hosts regular poetry readings, local musicians, community functions and art openings.
Urban
Outfitters anchors an eclectic array of unique and one-of-a-kind clothing shops such as Arth (art+hats=arth), the latest in kicks and men's streetwear from Blends+Carve and Commissary, the buzzworthy women's boutique The Hive, hand-crafted casual wear at Great Laundry, affordable designer digs at Treasury Dept and finally, Buffalo Exchange, the thrift store with a twist.
Stop in Crew Salon for a haircut or Eye Society for royal-quality eyewear.
When you're ready to eat, Gypsy Den is a great coffee and culture oasis and eatery while Habana offers the culinary riches of Cuba and Zipangu has great Japanese-fusion tapas and sushi.
Visit the SoBeCa website for up-to-date information on upcoming events.
