FREQUENT GUEST AT THE HILTON ORANGE COUNTY/COSTA MESA REWARDED WITH WEEKEND STAY AND USE OF ASTON MARTIN
COSTA MESA, California, April 15, 2010 – Forget the bottled water and mints on the pillow. When Jeff Bootz of Scottsdale, Arizona recently checked into the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa, the hotel’s General Manager Shaun Robinson flipped him the keys to a sleek 2010 Aston Martin Vantage convertible sports car that was adorning the hotel lobby.
To his delight, Bootz learned that the hotel had arranged for him to enjoy the use of the car along with a complimentary weekend stay at the hotel on June 25-27 when the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company brings “The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™ for the first time to the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.
“This is pretty incredible,” he said. “I was actually admiring the car when I walked up to check in. I had no idea it was there for me.”
As director of sales for Toyo Tires, Bootz is one the hotel’s most frequent guests, spending more than 100 nights a year in this home away from home. “I love this hotel. The people here are so passionate about what they do. They’ve become like family to me.”
“We wanted to surprise Jeff and thank him for his patronage,” said Robinson. “Judging from the smile on his face, I’d say mission accomplished. We know that he and his wife Kaytie will have a great time when they stay with us in June.”
Robinson and Dan Fitzgerald, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing, have cooked up other creative ideas involving vehicles that have gotten the hotel noticed.
For example, a plush horse-drawn carriage has become a fixture of the hotel’s annual “Queen Mother for a Day” Mother’s Day brunch, which returns on Sunday, May 9. Another time they arranged for executives of Qantas Airways to board a helicopter that landed at the hotel for a tour of Orange County and the California coastline. The gesture iced the deal to have Qantas flight crews serving Los Angeles Airport stay at the Hilton.
The hotel is the headquarters of Her Majesty’s Ride, a service that transports passengers to and from destinations around the county in head-turning London-style taxicabs. It’s also the headquarters hotel for the Barrett-Jackson event.
